Evernote for Android lets you keep track of your ideas using multimedia notes with text, voice clips, pictures, attached files, even location stamps. It automatically backs up to your cloud-based Evernote account for easy access from any data-connected device.
Evernote's interface, as sleek and intuitive as it may be, is a bit more involved than your basic notepad app, simply because the full Evernote service is so robust. It does a lot more than type out notes. From the Home screen you can choose to view your notes, notebooks (essentially folders to organize your notes), shared notebooks, or tags. If you input unwieldy amounts of information, you can also further arrange your notebooks into stacks. And then of course, there are the icons that get you scrawling away: New note and Snapshot, which load up the text editor and camera, respectively.

When taking notes, you'll find much of the same multimedia functionality that the full Evernote site offers. You can attach any kind of media to a note, or even browse your Android's file system to attach a file. You can also snap a picture, or embed a voice recording. Hit the Menu button, and you get the option to set a location stamp so you know where you were when you jotted. Where the app falls short, however, is its formatting tools. Unlike the Evernote.com interface, the app doesn't give you bullets, numbered lists, or anything else to manipulate your note's layout. Some of these tools would have been nice, but in Evernote's defense, it is rare to find a note-taker app with any sort of formatting capabilities outside of a checklist.
Evernote for Android really shines with its ability to handle so many media types. Just like the full Evernote site, the app lets you embed text, audio, photo, video, or pretty much any other type of file into your notes. It also has some rich sharing functions built in, which allow you to post a note to your Facebook, Twitter, or any of your other installed applications. The reality is, if you're just looking for something to keep a grocery list, then Evernote may not be the best option for you.
