Dictionary.com's dictionary for BlackBerry packages a dictionary, thesaurus, and pronunciation feature into a single app. With it, you can quickly look up definitions and synonyms, either texting or e-mailing the record to a friend. As with the online site, you can switch between the dictionary and thesaurus without having to retype your term. A separate screen shows your search history.


In addition to making you more erudite when you search for a word, the daily definition can beef up your brain over time--in English or Spanish. Our favorite ancillary feature? Launching a definition or synonym search from the menu on most screens on your BlackBerry to look up a selected word on Dictionary.com.

While a reliance on Wi-Fi and the data connection keeps the app lighter on resources, it might be nice to see the meanings for the previous three words or so cached on the phone for faster reference.
